1I don't know the real reason but it could be argued that mobile phone (or any phone) keys are organize by the alphabet. Symbols on the 1 key, abc on 2, def on 3 and so on until you get to 9 which has wxyz on it. So going by this the first letters of the alphabet are on top and the last ones come last. That covers the phone and I don't honestly know why the keys are organized differently on a calculator but they have always been that way.
