It might sound a bit scary that you could be found anytime with the help of wireless positioning system, but actually it probably has more advantages than disadvantages. There have been many cases when a hiker or a simple Sunday walker has been lost in the woods and although he or she makes an emergency call with a mobile phone it is hard to find them by the directions given. When using wireless positioning it is all far much easier and the system can save lives not only people lost in the woods but also in the sea for example if somebody is on a deserted island after a shipwreck.
Wireless positioning uses a radio signal that a cell phone makes even when it is not used for calling. So the location of phone can be found by that previously mentioned signal even if you are moving. So we can say that the invention of wireless positioning systems have made things a lot safer as the possibility of being lost has decreased substantially.
If you are more interested in the wireless positioning system, ask somebody in your local region that is connected to the system and who can tell you about how and if it is used there.
